A leisurely cruise along the Grand Canal is one of life’s must-do experiences. in the late afternoon, the elements-worn colors of the former homes of Venice’s merchant elites are warmed by golden light and reflected in the canal’s rippling waters. The busy traffic of delivery boats, vaporetti and gondolas that fill the day’s main thoroughfare is somewhat eased. The sheer number and opulence of the 200-odd palazzi, churches, and imposing republican buildings is a sight to remember.

I HAVE READ ABOUT DRAMATIC POLLUTION PROBLEMS IN THE CANALS. HOW TRUE IS THIS AND TO WHAT DEGREE? THEY SAY THE CITY IS SINKING AT AN ACCELERATED RATE. ONCE AGAIN THIS IS ANOTHER OF YOUR PRODUCTIONS THAT WOULD MAKE A GREAT JIGSAW PUZZLE. HAVE YOU EVER HAD A MANUFACTURER DO THAT WITH YOUR WORK?
Sinking – probably. As for pollution, I wouldn’t say it’s more dramatic than any other city in the world. In fact, it felt pretty clean to me..
