A trinket maker using a torch to shape glass. Known as lampworking, this technique melts rods and tubes of clear and colored glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is then formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. Although glass making has been practiced since ancient Syrian times, it became widely practiced in Murano only in the 20th century
