The Gap is an unfortunately-named (brings to my mind generic and overpriced clothing) but utterly dramatic ocean cliff in Watsons Bay, Sydney. A short ferry ride away from Circular Quay, it is a bit far off from the main action, but rewards visitors with one of the best ocean views in Australia. High craggy cliffs, turbulent turquoise waves and a seemingly infinite horizon combine to simply take your breath away. A walk along this area brings to mind romantic evenings, nippy sea breezes and tragic yet beautiful English novels.

I tried out the Hoya ND400 with this shot. It is basically a filter that acts like a light dampener for the lens, to achieve a low shutter speed that would have been impossible under the bright conditions.

  2. I love long exposures. I recently bought my hoya nd400 and it really is a great filter. I usually coupled it with a CPL filter. Nice shot..
