Turning 47
As Singapore celebrates her 47th birthday today, I wish this little dot of an island happiness, prosperity and progress.
About the image
I am obviously biased, but this is one heck of a skyline. In the foreground, looking like the faceted eyes of a giant housefly, sits the Esplanade theater which was [featured yesterday]. The green open field to its right is the Padang, commonly used for recreational activities. On the left background you’ll find the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and its beams of lights. It houses one of the two casinos allowed in Singapore. The knob-like structure is the ArtScience Museum. It was [featured a few weeks ago] and is one of my favorite buildings here. The high rise skyscrapers on the right mark the edges of the Central Business District.
This glitzy light-up was for New Year’s Day celebrations, and I was perched on the 45th story of the SwissĂ´tel Stamford.
