The Palau de la Música Catalana is a modernisme concert hall in Barcelona designed by Lluís Domènech (the guides took great pains to inform us that Barcelona was not built by Gaudi alone). Its main auditorium, an architectural tribute to choral music, is a bright and intricately decorated hall which seats over 2000 people. Above it all is a magnificent stained-glass skylight designed to resemble an inverted dome. Shades of cyan and azure radiate out from a center of gold and auburn, invoking sun (sol), sky (cielo), and the joyfulness of it all.
Thats just stunning.
Another example of how language is inadequate to describe magnificent art even though English has more than a half million words.
My wife and I, we stopped at ‘Wow’.
Beauuutiful.
I think that is Art Nouveau.
I think the two are related! Modernisme is the movement, Art Nouveau is the style. I think.
trully! I forgot that modernism in architecture started from art nouveau epoque!
Utterly gorgeous capture – beautiful!
I need to save more money
thers so much to see!
Tell me abt it… we always leave a country with a feeling that we didn’t see all there is to see.
Stunning! Gorgeous photo of what must be a gorgeous building.
Amazing!
I echo the above comments. A wonderful shot. Thank you.
