This shot was a happy accident.
It was a glaringly bright and contrast-y day, and most of my shots were turning out to be rubbish. I was circling the base of Mirador de Colom (again) and experimenting with some frames at different exposure settings. I was so intent on the monument that I failed to notice that I had unwittingly imposed upon a group of boys chilling out. It was only much later when I noticed the range of their candid expressions and poses. I’m a pretty quiet dude and street portraits are never my thing (a sour mime in Rome once gave me the bird. And to add insult to injury, I fudged the shot), so this was a pleasant surprise.
A minor crop of [the original], and I had a different photo. Not too shabby for a five minute hack job.
