Wandering around Barri Gòtic, it was quite some time before I realized that the complex looming over me was the posterior facade of the Barcelona Cathedral. The tiered structure, multi-textured bricks and perching gargoyles made quite a sight against the sky that day, never mind that the view was courtesy of us retracing our route through the serpentine alleys, hopelessly lost but nevertheless charmed.
