Puerta de Alcalá

Designed by the Italian architect Francesco Sabatini, the Gate of Alcalá comprises five arches topped with cherubic angels and cupids. It used to mark the eastern boundary of Madrid in the 1800s, but is now at the heart of the city, near the Plaza de Independencia.
