Segovia Roman Aqueduct, Redux

Surprisingly, the Segovia Aqueduct remained functional well into the 20th century. Water leakage and pollution threatened the integrity of the granite masonry, causing stability problems. The monument was subsequently put on World Monuments Fund’s watch list and restoration and repair plans are in progress.
