Thirteen red balloons are suspended at the Rotunda of the National Museum of Singapore. The installation art is meant to signify the artist’s (Lim Shing Ee) struggle to “balance the choices concerning her identity, loyalty, nationality and sense of belonging”. Somewhat appropriately, a bride about to embark on the next chapter in her life, prepares for her bridal photo shoot at the corner of the frame.
The [National Museum of Singapore] at Stamford Road is my favorite museum in Singapore. Not just for its exhibition, but for its beautiful architecture as well. Just blogging about it makes me want to return for another visit.
