This lotus shaped museum is one of the main attractions at Marina Bay Sands, a huge entertainment complex noted for housing one of the two casinos in Singapore. Designed by Moshe Safdie, the “petals” of the museum hold its galleries. At the tip of each petal are skylights that let in natural light into each gallery. Other than aesthetic sensibilities, the curved facade of the museum is also meant to catch rainwater, which is then channeled into an oculus in the center of the structure. Recycled water is then used in the museum’s restrooms.
