Forest Fantasia

Stepping into La Sagrada Familia is like entering an enchanted forest out of a child’s wildest imagination. The tall pink and grey columns that end in branch-like struts, starbursts amok across the impossibly tall ceiling, flashes of color that stream through the sunlit stained glass window – this church in Barcelona is like none I have ever set foot in. The modernisme interior is Gaudi’s magnum opus – jaw-dropping in its grandiosity and scope, and yet full of tiny details to catch your eyes. Unfortunately, the Catalan architect passed away even before the quarter mark of completion. La Sagrada Familia is expected to complete in year 2026, 100 years after his passing.
