Palacio Real de Madrid

The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official address of the Spanish king and his family, all of whom ironically, do not stay here. The palace is more of a museum and tourist attraction these days, and its thousands of plush, gilded rooms hold a treasure trove of art pieces and antiques. The large square in front of the palace is called Plaza de la Armería, and it’s pretty cool to just stroll around on the expansive grounds and people watch.

The Palace has a strictly enforced no-photography rule.
