Templo de Debod

Not far from the Royal Palace of Madrid sits the not-very-Spanish-looking Templo de Debod. Three gateways mark out a path to the temple itself. The structure itself was an Egyptian donation to Spain in return for its help in saving a sign of gratitude for certain help provided by Spain. Not surprisingly, this is one of the few Egyptian structures to be found outside of Egypt. This area on the whole is generally a very picturesque and peaceful place for a short rest, after the jostle of humanity at the Royal Palace.
