The Square of Liberty

The majestic main gate that leads to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. The calligraphy on the gates read “Liberty Square”, signifying Taiwan’s transition from the Chinese Nationalistic Kuomintang regime to democracy in the 90s. The sprawling plaza today is a popular tourist spot, and also a place where many protests and sit-ins are held.
