Charmed to Meet You

One thing I believe the Taiwanese picked up from the Japanese – the use of charms. Visitors would buy them from the shrine, put ticks on the wishes they have (hey, no essays here!), and hang them on the surrounding greenery. The visitors are charmed, the shrine gets a source of income, and I get a photo op. Win-win-win!

  1. East Asian cultures are so rich in rituals and their belief. It’s amazing how they maintained the legacy of their ancestors until today 🙂
