Shifen Waterfall

The waterfall featured in the last post and in this post is the Shifen Waterfall, tucked in a serene area that’s a relaxing thirty minute stroll away from Shifen Old Street. It is not the largest of waterfalls, but is spectacular enough to give Shifen a slight edge over Pingxi, if you have only time for one place.

In general, Jiufen and Shifen is pretty quiet once the day draws to a close, so don’t expect the bustle of main Taipei in the late evening and at night. Leave plenty of time for yourself to get back to the train station, or just hire a cab to ferry you around the sights.
