Serenity

Blake summed it up well centuries ago –

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
– William Blake, Auguries of Innocence

I am often so caught up in daily life, work and wants that I forget sometimes that really, we all need very little to be serene. Take a step back from the noise, the lit-up screens of mobile phones and tablets, the incessant whirl of urban life. Then take a step out to feel the breeze on your face, the sun on your skin, see the flight of singing birds. A quick smile from your daughter, a light touch from your wife. So many little things waiting to be discovered, each an universe of experience. That is serenity.
