… Ork, Ork, Ork, Ork!
Sea lions have been perennial residents at the famous Pier 39 for decades. Local lore has it that the local celebrities surfaced at this marina after an earthquake in 1989, but I doubt anyone really knows the real reason. The actual number of sea lions drastically changes from time to time, and can range from tens to the thousands. The marina was sparsely populated when I was here, so I didn’t get to witness their noisy antics. I’m pretty sure the tourists outnumbered the sea lions, in fact, so it was a good time to people-watch as well.
Besides the sea lions, the Pier 39 Marina also gives visitors a visual treat of SF’s gorgeous skyline.
