I don’t shoot half of my photos half as well as I should like; and I like more than half of them half as well as they deserve. – A drunken hobbit.
I bought my first DSLR in January 2009, and have not looked back since. I have moved on to a full frame camera, and have the assorted backaches to show for it. My favorite subjects are typically landscapes, architecture and close-ups- basically well-behaved things that won’t develop the tendency to give me the middle finger (Charlie Chaplin mime, Rome, don’t ask). My job keeps me chained indoor most of the times, where I tap on the keyboard all day and work on developing the fairest complexion known to humankind. Since I don’t get go on photo trips and experiment as much as I would like to, this blog has evolved from lofty aspirations into a travelogue of sorts.
I hope you enjoy your visit here. Don’t forget to drop a note and say hi!
Wenjie.

You can of course chose whether or not to accept this award, it is entirely up to you but I hope you will.
Hey, thanks! Will dig around for the rules 🙂
Admire your work greatly. As far as equipment, you might consider a tilt-shift sometime later. Great architectural tool.
Thanks for visiting and dropping a note! As a matter of fact, I have been lusting over TS lenses, but they are still several years of rationalization away :p
The day will come, I hope.
I wanted to say, thank you for your photos and the life that brings to mine.
Two years too late – thank you for the lovely words

All I can say is “wow”. You’re pictures and stunning and vivid!
P.S. And that Singapore skyline is insanely beautiful!
Thank you Alexandria! This particular one looks like a medieval stonehenge in low light.
Hi! I really enjoy reading your looking at, and reading your posts. Absolutely amazing photos! I especially like that you write about your subjects too (especially about the architecture), and not just caption them. Hoping for more. ^^
Hi there. Thank you for dropping by! And yeah, I like to provide context wherever possible 🙂

Ouww..i actually wanted to make it..thank you for the information…i wait for your next photo..
Breathtaking photos! Will be dropping by often 🙂
Hi there. Welcome and thank you!
I really love the design of your page. The photo is the center piece of the site, especially when you open up the page. Great shots. It is a bit hard to move from one image to the next, you have to scroll down before moving to the next image.
Yeah can’t take credit for that. It’s all wordpress. And I believe you can click on the left and right of the image itself to go forward and backward. At least it works on my browser. Give it a shot!
Beautiful images. I would like to use one of your images of the Sagrada Familia in my book. How can I contact you about this?
Hi there. Thanks! Pictures from my Spain trip can be found at my Flickr site. The license should be sufficiently broad for this particular collection.

Great.. I have credited you in the book. Many thanks for sharing the photos. They are truly awe inspiring.
Indeed, this one looks very much like Stonehenge !! The sky is what makes it so great.
Yeah, I love sunsets like this. So very rare.
It reminds me of Shepherds Delight 🙂
Great photos. I love your short comments as well.
Thank you Kevin.
I just followed your blog and I was very tempted to nominate you for The Lovely Blog Award and so I did! 🙂

Hey there. Glad you like the pictures! And thank you 🙂
Great shots Wenjie, I’ve enjoyed looking at them.
Thank you. You have a beautiful site!
Have you posted any sort of personal info? Where you live? Your family? Etc. Your English is so perfect, so colloquial, but no pictures of America?
Oh I’m Singaporean through and through, this blog just captures my travel photos. I’m Chinese by race, but English is our first language over here 🙂 Haven’t been to U.S, hence the lack of photos. New York, San Francisco, Alaska… some day 🙂
Hello from New York. Your pictures are very nice. I like taking pictures of clouds.
http://sky-photography.blogspot.com/
coincidentally, I love clouds too. I don’t look at them nearly often as much as I’d like!

Hello Zhang. The comment you posted along with The Deep Blue…the landscape listens…the shadows hold their breath is amazing. Is it original? If it is…it resonated with me immediately. And… this is an entirely different question…I am planning to spend a week in Singapore in December. Would you recommend the CBD for a hotel or some other area? I would be delighted to hear what you think.
Hi there- the title of my blog comes from an Emily Dickinson poem by the same name. It is a pretty dark poem however, so the words you see on top of the blog are not a good representation.
Where you stay in Singapore depends on what you like. If you prefer modern luxuries and shopping, the Orchard, Marina Bay or Marina Bay Sands will do nicely. The Cityhall area in particular, has a good range of hotels for most budgets. If you prefer to see heritage sites, then Chinatown or Tanjong Pagar will do the trick. For the resort feel, sentosa has several good options, though they are harder to reach. I would avoid the central CBD area Raffles Place- not much to do there!
Thank you very much indeed Zhang. I checked up on the title of your blog…but it was those words…the landscape listens. Were they also from Emily Dickinson? Your information on Singapore is very useful indeed and will help in making an informed choice. I suspect you are not just a photographer as your website suggests that you are creative, informed and like to dabble with words. That’s a pretty good combination. Once again…many thanks. Vincent Gilvarry.
Yes they are, from the same poem:
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the Air–
When it comes, the Landscape listens–
Shadows–hold their breath–
When it goes, ’tis like the Distance
On the look of Death–
Not the most cheerful like I said! 🙂 I’m actually working in the IT industry. Hope you have a great trip!!
I shall have to investigate Emily Dickinson. Somehow or other …I seem to have missed out on her. Many thanks.

Hi!
I’m just one to asking you for a permission. I’d like to use one of your shot (https://lightslant.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/the-arena/) in a Photoshop photomanipulation.
I won’t use it for commercial purpose at all, just for fun. If I could reach a good looking result, I’ll submit it at my deviantart account.
(With your name and a link to your blog)
*not one, but want (I’ve typed it on a smartphone and the devil of autocorrect was kidding me, sorry)
sounds like fun – go ahead! 🙂
Many thanks! Here it is:

My first quick look at your Singapore skyline on the About page struck me as somewhat like Stonehenge!
Of course I will drop by. Thanks for leaving a note 🙂
Stonehenge – completely attributed to Marina Bay Sands and the Hotdog platform.

Thank you Hagen.
Everything requires at least one Lord of the Rings quote to catch my attention, but then you went above and beyond and just happened to have the most magical photography I have seen in a long time. Love the colours. Seriously. Inspired.
This blog started on a whimsy and what seems half a lifetime ago, when I was half broke, worry free and could read tomes of fantasy novels days on end. Sometimes I’m amazed I’ve kept it going for as long as I have. So thank you for your kind words. 🙂
I love your blog, and I have nominated you for A Lovely Blog Award. If you would like to participate in this, please see my post:

So…here you are! Excellent!
