The roof panel details of Ninomaru Gōten, in Nijō-jō, Kyoto. The palace is constructed using Hinoki cypress and adorned with elaborate carvings, intended to intimidate/ impress the visitors of the Tokugawa Shoguns. And if that fails, there’s always their samurai bodyguards.
