Ponte di Rialto

The Rialto bridge is the oldest bridge that spans the Grand Canal in Venice. It was built in the early 1590’s, and for a long time, was the only way for Venetians to cross the Grand Canal on foot. Scores of shops are located on this bridge, and roads to it are also lined with souvenir and glass work sellers. From the top of the bridge, you get a sweeping view of the Grand Canal. But if it’s a view of the bridge you’re wanting, then simply hop on a vaporetto and get a good standing spot.
